Description
Chemical engineering is at the heart of much of the chemical, oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. The chemical engineer is interested in the transportation and transformation of solids, liquids and gases, but must also be familiar with many of the other engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical and instrumentation. Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer, and reaction engineering form the fundamentals of chemical engineering. Without these fundamentals, chemical engineers may not be able to understand the operation of process units and succeed in the proper design of chemical processes.

Objective
This course is designed to cover the basic concepts and fundamentals of chemical engineering and provide a basic understanding of these fundamentals to non-specialist, and a refresher to practising engineers, with examples that will be drawn from a range of process industries including oil and gas processing, petrochemicals, and chemical manufacturing.

Target Audience
Practising or lapsed chemical engineers wanting to refresh their fundamental knowledge.
All those working in the chemical, petrochemical, oil and process industries with a need to understand and discuss fundamental chemical engineering and technology issues with the chemical engineering specialists or other professionals. These will include:
  • Process Development Engineers
  • Manufacturing and Industrial Engineers
  • Electrical Engineers
  • Petroleum Engineers
  • Process Engineers
  • Mechanical Engineers
  • Plastics & Material Engineers
  • Civil Engineers
  • Production Engineers
  • Maintenance Engineers
  • Food Scientists
  • Environmental Engineers
  • Chemists
  • Chemical Engineering Technologists
  • Environmental Technicians
  • Maintenance Supervisors
  • Laboratory Technicians
  • Chemical Plant Operators
  • Project Managers and Engineers
